Of course I now know that my MIND is in control of how I feel and by generating feel good thoughts I can feel better...that being said...here are some additional hacks that I use when I am struggling.
I Clear out my brain...grab some scrap paper and get out the crap so I can really see what is going on there in the first place. I then comfort myself as I would my children and recognize that all of these thoughts are optional.
Getting out into nature also helps me clear out my brain...even a 10 minute walk does wonders.
A warm bath always lets my body relax and my brain to unwind.
Focusing on someone else and NOT ME also helps. Which of my kids needs to some extra help? How can I do something more for someone else today?
Finally...making sure I am getting enough sleep and enough exercise is huge! Make TIME FOR THIS!!!

When we expect others to make us happy by:
Buying us the right gift
Helping with chores without asking
Planning a surprise get away
Saying nice things to us
We are often disappointed.
It is best to meet our own needs and stop trying to cajole or control those around us (This is exhausting...I may have tried!)

It keeps us from putting things out into the world because of what "others" might say
or worse of all, what we will say about ourselves.
You know what?
I am over it.
Life is too short.
Do you know how much more fun life is and how much more I accomplish when I allow myself B- work ?!?
Yes, I'll have friends and family for dinner when my home is not pristine.
Yes, I'll try that new activity and be a fool and laugh about it.
Yes, I'll present a "good enough" talk to my co-workers so they can gain valuable information.
Try it my friends. You will feel SO much lighter.
The worst thing that can happen is a feeling...and we can all survive that!

Did you know that the way we THINK about time matters more than anything!?

How some days "time flies" and how other days "time drags on".
This is something that I really enjoy coaching my clients on. How we think about time even affects what we accomplish in a day...seriously!
This was one of the best things that I've learned from coaching. When I think " I don't have enough time" ...it turns out I don't . When I think " I have time to get important things done" it seems to work out. So cool!
Another amazing TIME HACK is to really look at where we spend our time. We often bemoan we "don't have enough time" but we often end up frittering away time mindlessly.
A little challenge for the day...track your time and see if you can come up with just 5 minutes that might be "better spent" .... just 5 minutes a day ends up being 30 HOURS IN A YEAR! What would you do with that GIFT OF TIME?!

There are SO many things that I've learned in my coaching that I want to share with you but will start with a few simple action items.
Anyone who has worked with a life coach can tell you how life changing it can be.
Coaching allows you to find the root cause of "issues" that may be holding you back and helps you see your blind-spots in a loving, non-judgemental way. Many anecdotal stories will support the benefit of working with a life coach...but of course in medicine we like to see the FACTS!
And studies now back this up. A JAMA article in August 2019 showed a positive effect of Professional Coaching Intervention on the well being and distress of physicians in a randomized clinical trial.

As a life coach, one of my favorite things is to teach people how to "feel the feels"! What does this mean? I teach you to explore and describe how a feeling vibrates in your body.
What is the point of this?
We spend SO MUCH TIME in our lives trying to avoid feelings! We avoid/buffer with shopping, eating, drinking, netflix, scrolling on social media.
We also resist and react to our emotions.
I teach you to ALLOW the emotions...to actually FEEL the uncomfortable vibrations.
and on and on!
WHY???
Because it teaches you that the worst thing that can happen is a feeling, a vibration that is felt in different areas of your body...and we can survive that. Even if it feels uncomfortable, it goes away after awhile. We avoid doing so many things in life because we are afraid of the feeling!
Once you learn this strategy, your life will get better! No joke!
